Hello. My name is Gavin Roberts and Human Spirit is the result of more than thirty years of personal and professional study, research and practise in mind-body healing and transformation.
I knew I’d found my calling in life when two sessions of hypnotherapy cured my ten-year problem.
You can read about that life-changing experience in my free ebook which also explains what hypnosis really is and how it can help you.
I’ve been passionate about self-development since my late teens and have studied psychology, hypnosis, shamanism, mysticism, mythology, dreams, altered states of consciousness, meditation and psychedelics.
In my twenties I studied Psychology and Sociology at West Suffolk College in Bury St. Edmunds. Soon afterwards I started working for Suffolk Social Services where I helped people with mental health problems and learning disabilities for over a decade.
I’ve always believed that we’re not the finished article and that humanity is still evolving. This life is a chance to do that: to break free of conditioning and become who you truly are.
My hypnotherapy training
After hypnotherapy cured my ten-year problem I knew I had to learn how to do this for others.
I got my first qualification in professional hypnotherapy in 2001 with the Midlands Institute of Hypnotherapy and set up my practice in 2002.
My skills were further developed through training at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford from 2004 to 2007 with the School of Analytical and Cognitive Hypnotherapy where I gained qualifications in Advanced Hypnotherapy, Hypnoanalysis and Integrative Psychotherapy.
I am also qualified in Energy Psychology (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and have recently completed my training in providing hypnotherapy supervision for other therapists.
When I’m not seeing clients, I mentor and supervise other qualified hypnotherapists. If you’re a hypnotherapist and need supervision to improve your therapeutic skills and confidence, please get in touch.
My office for in-person sessions is at The Green Room in Stowmarket, Suffolk (just a two minute walk from the station if you’re coming by train).
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, much of my work is done online via Zoom. You can find out more about online therapy here.
And I recently published an article about the differences between in-person and online hypnotherapy that you might find useful.
When I’m not busy with clients or supervising other hypnotherapists, I like to get out in my campervan as much as possible. You can read about my adventures at motorhomehobos.com.
You can call or text me on 07921 331707 or email me with any questions or queries you might have. (Just to say that I don’t take calls or answer emails/texts at weekends). I always aim to get back to you within 48 hours.
